The Royal Welsh Winter Fair is the two-day winter event of the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society, held at the Royal Welsh Showground in Llanelwedd near Builth Wells, Powys. It was first staged in 1990 as a modest one-day event and has since grown into what the society calls one of the finest prime stock shows in Europe.
Visitors can expect a packed schedule of competitions, exhibitions and displays centred on prime stock, with cattle, sheep, pigs, poultry and horses competing alongside carcass, home craft and floral art sections. A Food Hall features Welsh producers offering samples, and hundreds of trade stands make it a popular place to buy Christmas gifts.
The fair is billed as the way to start the festive season in mid Wales, and the showground offers free parking. Advance tickets are sold online at advance prices through the society's ticketing site.
