The Royal Welsh Show is organised by the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society, which was formed in 1904 as the Welsh National Agricultural Society. The first show was held that year in Aberystwyth, and the show has had a permanent home at Llanelwedd near Builth Wells since 1963.
Visitors can expect livestock and equine competitions at the heart of the show, alongside forestry, horticulture, crafts, countryside sports, food and drink, live music and shopping, with a 12-hour programme of entertainment each day.
The society describes the show as the pinnacle event in the British agricultural calendar, and it attracts more than 200,000 visitors a year. Tickets are sold through the society's own ticketing site.
