More than 300 music and arts events over 15 days in St Ives, Cornwall. Main music events at the 400-plus capacity St Ives Guildhall with other music, film and theatre at various venues including St Ives Theatre, The Western Hotel, St Ives Arts Club and St Ia Church. There will be free music at most St Ives pubs every night of the Festival, two Saturday afternoons of street entertainment plus the daily "tradition" of open-air music and poetry in Norway Square hosted by St Ives performance poet Bob Devereux. A new innovation this year will see acclaimed climate change artist Zsuzsanna Ardó, whose work has been seen at an Antarctic research station, an Arctic art museum, a French castle and the British and European parliaments, as Artist in Residence during the first week of the Festival. Zsuzsanna will be creating "The Glacier Strikes Back", a series of land art installations from Porthminster to Porthmeor beaches, featuring her trademark red umbrellas interacting with the landscape. She will also hold an exhibition and give talks to artists and local schoolchildren More than 20 galleries will be taking part in the Open Studios programme with others open throughout the Festival, along with participatory art, pottery and crafts workshops, talks and walks plus Mary Kaun English demonstrating her pit-fired ceramic techniques alongside the surfer on Porthmeor Beach.
